Grace, who is the main character in her novel, has just about had it when she find herself stuck in traffic and running out of time to get to her daughter for her 16th birthday. Grace and her daughter Lotte are in the middle of a fallout and Grace is desperately doing everything she can to repair her relationship with her defiant teenage daughter. Having lost her job, going through a divorce and a range of other difficulties add to Grace’s frustrations as she makes her way across London to see her daughter.
