Wise Words Wednesday: Especially For All of YOU… just From Me

When I was in high school, from about Sophomore year until I graduated I would write to hundreds of my fellow classmates and friends.

This was a time before blogs existed, before Facebook, or Twitter, Tumbler or Instagram. Yet, I somehow connected to hundreds of my friends via a daily email. This went on past my highschool graduation and until the first year or few semesters of my University experience. I can’t really recall when it ended. I think it somehow just faded. What did I write about you might be wondering? Well, I usually started with a little introduction and at times would discuss things that were going on in our world at the time. By our world, I mean the craziness of high school, not necessarily world peace or politics. Then I would share a few of my inspirational quotes and at times I would dedicate quotes to certain people – giving them some reassurance or inspiration to deal with certain situations they were facing at the time. Though this was broadcast to a pretty vast audience, considering it was before Social Media existed, everyone was kept pretty anonymous. I would use their beeper codes to dedicate the quotes, and at times even used beeper codes to say, “I love you”, “I miss you” or just “Good Luck”. Yes, I did say beeper codes! I’m really dating myself here by referring to beeper codes, and life pre-social media. I’m like a dinosaur of sorts. The first time I heard what Google was, I was sitting in my University English class! I remember writing in my notebook, “Google?” Reminding myself to look it up when I got home because my professor suggested we use it as a reference.

So I’m taking it back to my “retro” days and bringing my emails back in blog form. Every Wednesday, I’m going to share Wise Words Wednesday, to give you a little mid-week pick-me-up. Just like in the days of my “Especially to ALL of you … just from ME”, I hope you all look forward to the little wise words of inspiration.

“Especially to ALL of you … just from ME” was the name of that daily e-mail, which I took very seriously. Everyday, I’d rush home from school and before starting my homework, or sometimes between assignments, I’d rush to make sure everyone received my little bit of inspiration in their inbox. Back when “You’ve got mail,” wasn’t just a movie, but a notification that you had something special waiting to be read. Some, I even heard were printed, cut out and pasted on walls of dorms on opposite sides of the country. Long after we all moved on into “adult” life and graduated to our college days, those daily emails kept us connected and in touch. Now, luckily, we depend of Facebook, Blogs and social media for that.

Here is my first installment of Wise Words Wednesdays – Especially for ALL of you … just from ME:

Those of you who used to receive my “especially for ALL of you… just from ME” are you enjoying receiving these again? What’s your fondest memory of those old daily emails back in the day? What do you think of Wise Words Wednesdays?

You will never miss out on what is meant for you, even if it has to come to you in a roundabout way.

Don’t let small minds convince you that your dreams are too big.

Devote yourself to an idea. Go make it happen. Struggle on it. Overcome your fears. Smile. Don’t you forget: this is your dream.”

I love being a writer. What I can’t stand is the paperwork.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great.”

It is a risk to love. What if it doesn’t work out? Ah, but what if it does?
